Acne
A skin disease that is caused by changes in pilosebaceous units refers to acne vulgaris or commonly called acne. A condition most common during adolescence, acne affects more than 85 percent of teenagers, and frequently continues into adulthood. Further, severe acne is inflammatory; however, it can also be manifested in noninflammatory forms. The most commonly affected areas are the face, upper neck; as well as the chest, shoulders, and back. Typically, acnes lesions are comedones, inflammatory papules, pustules and nodules. Aside from the physical effects of acne as in scarring, there are psychological effects including depression, low self esteem, insecurity, or social inhibition. Lastly, acne can be treated by antibacterial ointments, healthy diet, cosmetic products, etc.
