Arthritis
Arthritis is characterized by the inflammation of joints. It is a disabling condition affecting among people aged fifty above. There are many forms of arthritis but the most common is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that is due to trauma or infection of the affected joints or caused by aging. Other forms are rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, septic arthritis, gout and pseudo gout, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis. There are some diseases that mimic arthritis but are not forms of arthritis. These include multiple myeloma and osteoporosis. Treatment for arthritis can vary and may depend on the severity of the arthritic condition. Mild cases can be relieved with exercise, weight control, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and other medications, physical and occupational therapy and dietary supplements. In severe cases, surgery may be advised by the doctor.
