Back and Neck Pain
Pain is characterized as a neurosensory sensation that causes discomfort to the person afflicted with it. Pain sensations are typically subjective and patients are usually given the pain scale to describe the intensity of the pain. The common cause of pain may be an underlying injury to the tissues. Pain can be further classified as acute or chronic. Acute pain is when the pain sensation responds immediately with simple medications or by rest. If injury continues on a microscopic scale, pain can be classified as chronic pain if it persists at a longer period. The back and neck pain may result from tissue damage or injury. Treatment usually involves analgesics and other pain relievers depending on the extent of pain, and therapeutic interventions. Physical agents such as heat, cold, electrical impulses may ease the pain felt in these areas.
