Borderline Personality
According to the diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), borderline personality disorder is a psychiatric describing a prolonged disturbance of personality function which is characterised by depth and variability of moods. Further, borderline personality involves instability in mood as well as “black and white” thinking. In addition, the disorder is also described with chaotic as well as unstable identity, self-image, behaviour, and interpersonal relationships. The cause of borderline personality is unknown and rather complex. Some suggest that the disorder is predisposed with history of childhood trauma possibly child sexual abuse, and others indicate diverse possible causes, such as a genetic predisposition, neurobiological factors, environmental factors, or brain abnormalities.
