Diabetes
Around the world, children and adults have been diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is a systemic disease that involves the improper use or the non-production of insulin in the body. In normal body processes, insulin is a hormone that is needed to break down and convert blood sugar. There are four major types of diabetes. First is Type 1 diabetes which is described as the loss of the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas resulting to a deficiency of insulin. The second type is Type 2 diabetes which is caused by insulin resistance or reduced insulin sensitivity. Most diabetics have this kind of type. Third is gestational diabetes that is immediately diagnosed after pregnancy. Another category is pre-diabetes which is described as a person having higher than normal blood glucose levels but not high enough to be classified as diabetics.
