Ergonomics combines the disciplines biomechanics, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, industrial design, kinesiology, physiology and psychology to promote wellness of the average worker. Ergonomic furniture is essential to people who are desk-bound for most of the time. Proper posture and body placement should be practiced to avoid and prevent postural problems that could lead to disabilities and injuries. Ergonomics have five aspects: safety, comfort, ease of use, productivity and performance, and aesthetics. Practicing ergonomics in the workplace will increase quality and quantity of work and decrease incidences of low back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders.
