Generalized Anxiety
An anxiety disorder characterised by excessive, uncontrollable, and often irrational worry about everyday things that is disproportionate to the actual source of worry refers to generalised anxiety disorder or GAD. This excessive worry becomes a problem since it interferes with daily functioning. Persons experiencing GAD will anticipate disaster, catastrophes, and are overly concerned about everyday matters such as money, health issues, family or work problem, etc. Moreover, individuals experiencing GAD will manifest physical symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, nausea, fidgeting, trembling. Difficulty in swallowing, sweating, muscle tension and aches, twitching, irritability, and hot flashes are also present. Lastly, GAD can be chronic once it developed but can be managed with appropriate interventions.
