Healthy Living
Since health is not merely the absence of disease, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the approach to health should be geared towards the holistic approach and assessment. Moreover, to achieve optimal health, it is imperative to take necessary steps or strategies and these steps or strategies are what comprise the essence of healthy living. Healthy living, therefore, is a way of life or one’s lifestyle with the perception on how life should be lived healthfully.

Healthy living is taking into account one’s responsibility in dealing with health matters such as eating foods rich in vitamins and minerals or eating a balanced diet, engaging in regular exercise or activities, being emotionally and spiritually fit, and determining factors detrimental to health. Moreover, to achieve wellness, a balance or equilibrium should be established—eating healthy but always putting an unhealthy attitude or exercising regularly but smoking excessively. Here are some simple steps to have a healthy you:
- Emotionally, it is always important to practice a healthy, optimistic attitude. Research studies indicate that depression is unhealthy and it has effects physically. Learn to dwell on the positive side of life than the negative—as they say, life is what you make it. It’s all in the attitude.
- Physically, determine your ideal weight for your height and make this as your baseline. Eat healthy—fruits and vegetables, low fat and low salt diet, high fibre food. Moreover, exercise regularly and faithfully. Take one step at a time—nobody would ever tell you that after a few days of regular exercise, you’ll have a flat tummy.
- Spiritually, pray. Pray for things that are beyond human comprehension and intervention. Learn to lift up burdens to the higher being. Spirituality is a private matter. Develop one.
- Lastly, avoid things that are detrimental to health. Read articles related to health and be informed.
