Infectious Diseases
An infectious disease depends largely on the type of pathogen it is infecting the body. These pathogenic microorganisms include bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa and parasites, and these microbes can cause disease on humans, animals and plants. The spread of transmission depends on the type of infection and is usually very fast. Most often, hand-to-hand contact and airborne transmission are the most common ways of transmitting common illness pathogens like the common colds and flu. Contact of droplets of infected bodily fluids can also be the mode of transmission of diseases like tuberculosis and other respiratory infections. Sexually related diseases consider sexual contact as the major mode of transmission. Some diseases have mechanical or biological vectors that carry the infected material and transfer to the host infected. An example is the dengue virus carried by a biological vector, the mosquito.
