Kidney Diseases
The kidneys are bean-shaped structures located just below the rib cage. These structures are made up of millions of nephrons, which are tiny structures that filter the body’s blood from waste products and extra water. These wastes and excess water become urine as by-product and is stored in the urinary bladder to be removed from the body upon urination. Kidney disease, also known as renal disease, happens when damage, obstruction and/or injury happens within the kidney’s numerous nephrons. Although there is minimal damage in the kidneys, disastrous results and serious medical conditions result when these microscopic damages become chronic in nature. People with diabetes, high blood pressure or somebody in the family having a history of kidney disease have a high risk of getting renal diseases.
