Palliative Care
Any form of medical care or treatment that focuses on reducing the severity of symptoms of disease, rather than striving to halt, delay or reverse progression of the disease itself or provide a cure, refers to palliative care. Generally, the goal of palliative care is the prevention and relief of suffering and improvement of quality of life of patients in serious illness or debilitating conditions. Moreover, services offered in palliative care homes or institutions may include treatment of pain and other distressing symptoms, provision of psychological and spiritual care, provision of support system which help the individual live as actively as possible, and provision of support system that help sustain and rehabilitate the individual’s family.
