Pediatrics
Two of the serious cases in the field of Paediatrics are the issues of ADD/ADHD and Autism.
Firstly, ADD/ADHD is defined Attention Deficit Disorder or also known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The two terms in this case are often times use interchangeably, but they mean the same as that condition in the brain that is characterized by poor attention and impulsive behaviours. This case is one of the common mental disorders that affected many children and even adolescents and adults. The immediate effects of this problem are the patients’ poor performance at school or workplace, poor social relationships and low self-esteem.
Attitude problem
The real causes of ADD/ADHD have not been determined though some experts have suggested that the problem may have something to do with genetic and biological aspects in human. And that many also of the cases have shown that the male group is the more susceptible to ADD/ADHD than the female group.
ADHD
On the second case, which is Autism, some experts suggest an estimation of 6 in every 1000 is likely to have the problem of Autism. And again, as in the case of ADD/ADHD, males are more susceptible to this developmental disorder than the females. Autism is characterized by social interaction deficiency and very poor verbal or non-verbal communication.
The parents are, of course, the first to notice the signs of Autism in their child, as symptoms can already be seen during the infancy period. For instance, the infant may even show some indifference to those who are around her or him.
