Rare Diseases
Diagnosing a rare disease is a challenging feat. Unless the specialist has isolated the signs and symptoms of the disease, a rare disease diagnosis is often a result of research and heavy medical observation and tests. Congenital diseases and hereditary diseases may result to rare diseases. However, the most common cause of rare diseases is due to changes in the genes. Most rare diseases are life-threatening and very debilitating. Hence, patients with rare diseases do not have long life expectancies. And because of the rarity of such disorders, treatments and cures are hard to find. Most of the drugs available and treatment interventions are palliative and only prolong the life of the patient.
