Services
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as “the state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” As such, the services related to health or health care are implemented in accordance with the principles upheld by the health care professionals. Basically, these services can be categorized broadly as home care or community as well as private health care—taking into account the clients’ preferences in terms of the availability of the services, aside from the capability of the clients to take advantage of such services.

Furthermore, services related to health has given rise to the health care delivery system, widely used in different countries with the goal of making the health services accessible to all—that is, provision of quality health services and the mobilisation of the health care sectors with the citizens. With health care delivery system, the government is usually deeply involved especially in awareness drives as well as the continuous supply of affordable medicines, free consultations, cost-effective hospitalisations, and other health or medical benefits.

However, the plight of the health services have some downfalls over the years as statistics indicate that the number of medical professionals—doctors, nurses, midwives—continue to lessen in number, at least those who work in the government per se. Also, despite the struggle of the concerned citizens over the provision and sale of cheap medicine, the problem continues to precipitate. Meanwhile, the health care professionals as well as the government are finding ways and means in improving these services to achieve the different health goals as health problems continue to show remarkable increment over the last decades.
