The problems brought about by substance abuse have continued to haunt mankind over the years. Defined as the excessive consumption of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco, no distinct definition has been attributed to substance abuse in the universal sense. Generally, any substance can be abused to the extent that this abuse becomes tantamount to substance dependence. Furthermore, substance such as drugs and alcohol are known to affect an individual emotionally, psychosocially, or mentally and its continuous abuse will lead to more severe health as well as societal problems.
